Attention Parents and Students,
Like many of you, our school has suffered damaged water pipes during this winter storm. It looks like the damage was limited to the cafeteria area at this time. While we assess damage and attempt to make the necessary repairs, Oakwood ISD we remain closed on for Flex Monday, February 22. We hope to return to normal school hours on Tuesday. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Oakwood ISD will remain closed for the remainder of this week (including Friday, Feb. 19). Weather conditions, power outages, and water disruptions continue to have major impacts on our school and community. Remote instruction has also been cancelled for this week. Please stay safe and warm and we will see everyone next week.
UPDATE - Tuesday, Feb. 16
Oakwood Family,
As we continue to struggle with the effects of the winter storm, it is fairly obvious that remote instruction is not possible for many of our families while dealing with the loss of heat, water, power outages, rolling blackouts, and loss of connectivity. Right now our primary concern is for the welfare and safety of our students and the Oakwood community. If anyone needs anything, please email me (rholden@oakwoodisd.net) and let me know. I will do whatever I can to help out.
With that said, school is canceled today, Wednesday and Thursday. We are also cancelling remote learning for the next three days (Today, Wednesday, and Thursday). We will evaluate school for Friday and make a decision by Thursday at 3pm.
Once again, please take care of yourself and your family. We will worry about school once everyone is safe and warm.
Respectfully,
R. Holden
Congratulations to Emma on your top 10 finish in class at the San Antonio Stock Show!!
Good luck to Emma, Alexis, and Gracie Belle as they will be competing in the San Antonio Stock Show over the next few days!
Friday Morning Update- After driving around Oakwood this morning, road conditions look drivable. As always, drive slow and be safe. Elevated roadways and bridges, as well as patches of ice remain a concern. Take your time and be safe. School will start at the regular time.
Junior High Basketball - Due to the inclement weather, the games for tonight vs Apple Springs have been canceled.
Students and Parents,
Please be safe as you drive to school this morning (Feb. 11). Weather forecasts show temperatures around freezing which may mean the possibility of ice, especially on bridges and overpasses. Leave a little earlier, take your time, drive slow, be safe.
Mrs. Randle's 5th class did a great job on their project of creating a history quilt celebrating Black History month.
Just a reminder that Monday, February 15 is Presidents Day and the school will be closed in observance of the holiday. Enjoy your weekend and stay warm!
