COVID-19 Update
3/18/20
Parents, Students, and Oakwood Community,
Oakwood ISD is continuing to carefully monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and its impact on our school and community. In an effort to make sure we are doing everything that we can to keep our students, teachers, and staff safe and healthy, Oakwood ISD will extend its suspension of district operations through Friday, April 3rd. This situation is continuing to evolve, but we feel these proactive measures are in the best interest of our students, staff, and community.
The district and its teachers are still committed to educating our students during this challenging time. We would like to thank the parents for your involvement in helping to deliver the instruction in a non-traditional manner this week. Learning make look and feel different, but learning will continue to happen with your help. It will take a team effort to make this happen.
We will have our instructional packets available again on Monday, March 23 at the cafeteria from 7:30 am until 9:00 am. You will be able to return you child’s packet from this week and pick up another one for the next week. We will have everything set up and ready to go for you to make this process and seamless as possible.
Please remember, the teachers are available to help you and your students should you need them, please feel to email them with any questions that you may have. Teachers are also working to contact all of their students to help and check on progress.
Oakwood ISD Food Services will continue to operate and will provide breakfast and lunch daily as we have done this week. Breakfast will be available from 7:30 am until 9:00am and lunch will be available from 11:00 am until noon for any student that would like to pick up a meal to go. Please call and let us know if you are in need of breakfast and lunch for your student.
The district will continue to monitor this situation and plans on reopening school on Monday, April 6th. Any changes to this plan will be communicated through the school website, app, and Facebook page no later than Thursday, April 2nd at noon. If you have any questions, please feel free to call 903-545-2600 and I will do my best to get you the information you need.
Please stay safe and take care of your families.
