Oakwood ISD Students and Parents,
I wanted to reach out to everyone with important updates regarding the school and decisions that have been made in dealing with the outbreak of the Coronavirus. As many of you are already aware, Oakwood ISD has joined other schools in our county and area in deciding to close school next week (March 16-20). Currently there are well over 300 school districts that are closing, with many more to follow. This decision was made after consultations with the Texas Education Agency as well as other local school districts. The current plan is that school will reopen on Monday, March 23. This situation is rapidly changing, so please continue to check the school district web page, Facebook page, or download the Oakwood ISD app from the apple or android store to get the most up to date information.
In the meantime, Oakwood ISD is working diligently to continue to provide an education to our students. As such, all teachers are currently working on providing instructional packets to students during the school closing. These packets will be ready for pick up in the school cafeteria starting Tuesday morning at 7:30 am until 1:00pm and again on Wednesday from 7:30am until 1:00pm. Teachers will also follow up with students later in the week in order to check on progress. In addition, Oakwood ISD is committed to providing breakfast and lunch to our students during this closure. This will be provided free of charge and will be to go meals that a student or parent can pick up and take with them. Breakfast pick up will be from 7:30am until 9:00am and lunch will be from 11am - 1pm. Monday through Friday of this week.
In the event a parent or student needs assistance with picking up food or instructional packets, we will be making a limited number of deliveries on an as needed basis. Please email school secretary Jennifer Ostlund (jostlund@oakwoodisd.net) with your name, address, as well as the students name and grade in order to get on the very limited delivery list.
As always, I am here to serve the needs of the students of Oakwood ISD during these challenging times, so please let me know if you have any questions or need further assistance. My email is rholden@oakwoodisd.net or you can call the school at 903-545-2600.
Thank you and please continue to pray for our students and our school!
