WILL MY CHILD BE ABLE TO PURCHASE LUNCH FROM THE SCHOOL CAFETERIA?

Yes. Oakwood elementary and high school students can purchase breakfast before school as well as lunch during school hours. Please see our Food Services page to see the menus for the month and the daily meal charges.

WHAT KINDS OF CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR MY CHILD IN THE OAKWOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT?

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY CHILD IS HAVING TROUBLE IN SCHOOL?

Our counselor is available to help your child succeed in school. She will work collaboratively with your child, his/her teacher, and you to create a plan of success that will make a difference.

DO I HAVE TO HAVE MY CHILD IMMUNIZED BEFORE ATTENDING SCHOOL IN OAKWOOD ISD SCHOOLS?

Yes, we require that students be fully immunized against certain diseases. If there are medical reasons or reasons of conscience, including a religious belief, that the student will not be immunized, the parent or guardian must present a certificate or statement for an exemption. MY CHILD MUST TAKE MEDICATION DURING SCHOOL HOURS. WHAT IS THE PROTOCOL?

If it is necessary for a student to bring medication to school, we must receive it in its original container. Please include a note of instruction, signed by the student’s parent, and deliver it to the district nurse in the office upon arrival to school. Students may not keep medication for self-administration. DOES OAKWOOD ISD HAVE A DRESS CODE?

We have established the district’s dress code to teach grooming and hygiene, prevent disruption, and minimize safety hazards. Students and parents may determine a student’s personal dress and grooming standards, provided they comply with the district guidelines.

The principal has the right to make a judgment about what may reasonably be expected to cause a disruption or interference with normal school operations. WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO GRADUATE FROM OAKWOOD HIGH SCHOOL? CAN MY CHILD RECEIVE AN ACADEMIC DIPLOMA?

Yes, we do have an academic diploma that your child can receive for the extra effort, beyond the regular graduation requirements, he/she makes during the high school years. IS BUS TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE FOR MY CHILD?

Yes, Oakwood ISD does have buses available for students who live more than two miles away from the school. Riding the bus to and from school and other school events is a privilege. As such, we ask our students to abide by certain guidelines of conduct and safety. Please see the Transportation page for more information, and feel free to call us if you have any questions.
